Welcome. ScotMesh runs the Reticulum backbone for Scotland and writes this wiki; you are very welcome to use both, and to add to either. Whether you have never heard of Reticulum or you want to put a solar relay on a hill, there is a page here for you. Pick where you are:

Connect now

The backbone is a public Reticulum transport node in Dalgety Bay, Fife. Anyone may connect, there is nothing to register, and it costs nothing.

Out of the box: install MeshChatX (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android), Sideband (Android, Windows, macOS, Linux) or an iPhone app, add a connection of type TCPClientInterface with host rns.scotmesh.net and port 4242, and you are on. Step by step.

Full installation: add this to your Reticulum config:

Behind CGNAT or a firewall you do not control? Use the I2P entry point instead; no port needs forwarding at either end. See Access over I2P.

Got a LoRa radio? ScotMesh's first gateway is on air in Fife, on the ScotMesh profile below and linked to the backbone, and standalone solar nodes are going out. Coverage is small so far, so a radio built anywhere in Scotland will hear the others as they arrive. Every radio must match all five settings exactly: a board with a different spreading factor is not weakly connected, it is completely deaf, and nothing reports an error. The 868 profile moved from 867.5 to 869.4625 MHz on 11 September 2026 (Ofcom's 869.40–869.65 MHz sub-band), so retune any radio still on the old frequency. rnode.scotmesh.net applies the profile in one click.

Whichever way in you chose: restart Reticulum, then check the interface shows Up (in rnstatus, or on the app's interfaces page). If it does not, Troubleshooting lists the usual causes.

The node peers outward to rebelnet.uk, rns.cybercore.uk and rmap.world, so a client connected here can reach the rest of the public Reticulum network. See Who we peer with.
