Managing Rogue Nodes

From ScotMesh Wiki

Sometimes a node misbehaves, through bad settings, a stuck state or a hardware fault, and floods the mesh. That slows the routers down for everyone.

What to do

If the owner can't be found, the node can be ignored until it is fixed. A router can be told to ignore a node by its ID using the Meshtastic CLI, and that is easy to script over a list of IDs.

Ignoring is not undone automatically, so keep two lists: nodes to ignore, and nodes to un-ignore once they behave again.

MTEK's guide to installing the CLI on Windows and the commands to use is attached to the Ignored nodes thread.

The best fix is prevention. Most rogue nodes are on default settings, so point new members at Recommended Settings.
